01 Where you are now
I’m always singing for free. It’s always ‘cheers, get yourself a drink’.
Sound familiar?
You’ve got the voice. Nobody’s shown you the rest.
The karaoke host shouts you up without you even asking. The room goes quiet. Somebody always says it: you should be doing this for a living.
You sing at the 40ths, the weddings, the christenings. You get paid in pints and “that was class”. Then Monday comes round again.
Nobody ever tells you how. Or whether you can actually make proper money from it. So you sing along in the car on the way home, scroll other singers’ gig posts in bed, and think “I’m better than half of them”.
Your set, as it stands
What a venue asks for
- A setlist
- Backing tracks
- A showreel
- A fee you can say out loud
- Someone to send it all to
Nothing to send them yet.
That’s what’s missing. Not your voice.
You message a couple of pubs and hear nothing back. Or they offer you “a free night first, to see how you go”. YouTube helps with your voice, but your voice was never the problem. Not one video tells you how to get booked or what to charge.
None of this is your fault. Nobody teaches the business behind the music. It lives in the heads of working singers who learnt it the hard way. And putting your family first was never giving up. That was you being a grafter.
“Maybe I’m just a good karaoke singer.”“Life got in the way. Work, bills, the kids.”“I’ve always wanted to do this.”
02 Who’s teaching you
- Gigs a week
- 2 to 4
- Weekends a year
- 40 to 45
- Sung abroad
- Bahrain, Ibiza, Corfu, Zante
- Where the work comes from
- Mostly my own groundwork
I’ve stood right where you’re standing.
I’m Kelvin. I’m Welsh, so singing’s in the blood. The karaoke hosts used to shout me up without me even asking.
Then life happened. I started at the bottom in hospitality and worked my way up to senior management. 60-plus hours a week, up at 6am, dreading Monday mornings and missing family time. Singing went on the back burner, because bills and kids come first. They should.
Once my kids had grown up, I made the (quite scary) leap. I quit my job and went out as a singer.
Now I make a full-time income working part-time hours. More than I made running multi-million pound businesses for other people. And most of my bookings don’t come from agents. They come from groundwork I’ll show you how to do.
“This is the course I wish was around when I first started out.”

04 Your numbers
What could your voice earn you?
Move the sliders using your own best guesses. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Fees can be anywhere from £80 to £500+ for a few hours’ work. Care homes tend to pay less than pubs and clubs.
A couple on the side, or every weekend. I do 2 to 4 a week.
Weddings, 40ths, christenings, the pub.
At £150 a gig, 4 gigs a month adds up to £7,200 a year. The £799 is covered by your 6th paid gig.
This is a sum, not a promise. Real fees depend on where you live, the venue and the work you put in.

Can I actually make money from singing?
Yes, 100%. I make more working part-time hours than I did running multi-million pound businesses for other people. The difference between singers who get paid and singers who don’t isn’t talent. It’s knowing how to run it like a business.
What if my voice isn’t good enough?
If people keep shouting you up to sing, your voice probably isn’t the problem. What’s missing is a set, a showreel, a fee and the right people to ask. You’ll also get the easy techniques I still use myself.
Not sure? Try my free Backstage Pass first, a 6-day vocal sound check. Email the word BACKSTAGE to definitelyk.b@gmail.com.
I haven’t got time, with work and the family.
It’s built to fit round a day job. The live calls are weekly in the first month, then every other week. The Car Warm-Up means you practise on the drive to work, and the WhatsApp group is there whenever suits you. Sing in the car, sing in the shower. It all counts.
£799 is a lot to spend on a dream.
It is, and I won’t pretend otherwise. But you’re not paying for a dream. You’re building the setlist, showreel, fee and contacts to get paid for something you already do for free. Gig fees can be anywhere from £80 to £500+ for a few hours’ work.
You can spread it over 3 months, and the guarantee means you won’t be left halfway.
How do I know this actually works?
Honest answer: this is the first cohort, so there are no student results yet. What there is, is me. Around eight years as a professional singer, more than 100 gigs a year, and shows in Bahrain, Ibiza, Corfu and Zante. I am the proof that it works.
Have I left it too late?
I didn’t go full time until my own kids had grown up. I spent years in hospitality first. Now I make a full-time income working part-time hours.
Do I have to quit my day job?
No. Sing part time, full time or for a few extra quid on the side. Plenty of working singers keep the day job. I quit mine, but that’s your call, and you don’t have to make it now.
Do I need a PA, backing tracks or a showreel first?
No. You build all of that in the 90 days. Backing tracks come in Own Sound, your showreel in Knock Doors and PA systems in Earn.
Can you promise I’ll get gigs?
No, and nobody honest can. Venues make their own choices. What I promise is this: by Day 90 you’ll have everything a venue needs to book you. If you’ve done the work and you’re not there yet, the Encore Month is free.
